AP Statistics Review Course

This course is designed to prep students for the AP Statistics Exam.The course consists of six 1.5 hour sessions plus one optional “make-up” class. All classes will be held in Armonk. An experienced AP Statistics teacher will cover all test topics in an easy-to-understand format. Classes begin in mid-March and run through the week of the May exam.

The AP Statistics exam will be given in the afternoon on Thursday, May 17, 2018.

Tuition for this course is $749.

About the Course

The purpose of the AP course in statistics is to introduce students to the major
concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing and drawing conclusions from data.
Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes:
1 . Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns
2. Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study
3. Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation
4. Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses
Students who successfully complete the course and exam may receive credit,
advanced placement or both for a one-semester introductory college statistics course.

Exam Description

Exam questions are based on the topics and skills addressed in the AP Statistics course. Formulas and tables needed to complete exam questions are provided to students taking the exam. Students are allowed to use a graphing calculator with statistical capabilities on the entire exam.

The portion of the exam covering each course topic area is:

  • Exploring Data:Describing patterns and departures from patterns (20% to 30%)
  • Sampling and Experimentation:Planning and conducting a study (10% to 15%)
  • Anticipating Patterns:Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation (20% to 30%)
  • Statistical Inference:Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses (30% to 40%)

Section I

Multiple Choice— 40 Questions | 1 Hour, 30 Minutes | 50% of Exam Score

  • Individual Questions

Section II

Free Response— 6 Questions | 1 Hour, 30 Minutes | 50% of Exam Score

  • 5 Short-Answer Questions
  • 1 Investigative Task
