A six week version of the course is also available with classes beginning in April. Class size is limited to 10 students per section. The Biology SAT II exam will be given on May 5, 2012 and again on June 2, 2012. Tuition for the 10-week course is $1149. Tuition for the 6-week course is $690.

Please Note: There are only five sections of this course in Armonk and four in Scarsdale. Please disregard the total number shown in parentheses under the table to the right.

Students are required to purchase both the Barron's and Princeton Biology SAT II review books shown on the right in the "Required Course Materials" section. Please note: The 2012-2013 edition of the Princeton review book has not been released yet.

Format and Content of the Test

The Biology E/M exam consists of 80 five-choice multiple-choice questions. Students have 60 minutes to complete the exam. On test day, students must decide if they are taking the Biology-E or the Biology-M exam. The first 60 questions are common to both Biology-E and M, followed by 20 specialized questions for each section. Students should choose the E-section if they feel more comfortable answering questions pertaining to biological communities, populations, and energy flow. They should choose the M-section if they feel more comfortable answering questions pertaining to biochemistry, cellular structure and processes, such as respiration and photosynthesis.

How the Test is Scored

For each correct answer, students are given one point. For each wrong answer, they lose 1/4 of a point – so there is a penalty for guessing. If they omit a question, it is not counted. After all the points are totaled, their paper is given a Raw Score. The Raw Score is then converted to an equivalent College Board score, which ranges from a low of 200 to a high of 800 points.

New SAT Score-Reporting Policy

College Board has approved Score Choice, an important change to the current SAT score-reporting policy. This new policy will give students the option to choose the SAT scores by sitting (test date) and SAT Subject Test scores by individual test that they send to colleges, at no additional cost. This will allow students to put their best foot forward on test day by giving them more flexibility and control over their scores. Score Choice is optional, and if students choose not to use it, all scores will be sent automatically. The new score-reporting feature launched in Spring 2009.

When Should a Student Take the Test?

Most students who are enrolled in a review course or who work with a private tutor opt to register for both the May and June exams. Students tend to approach the May exam as a “practice” test. They can use the next few weeks to continue to study and take practice tests and then they retake the test in June.

Services for Students with Disabilities

Not all students with disabilities require accommodations. Not all students who do require accommodations require the same accommodations. Some accommodations received by students in school are not necessary for the purposes of participating in College Board tests. To ensure that the College Board provides the right accommodations, we require that a student's documentation meet our criteria. We must approve accommodations before a student can take College Board tests.

It is very important that you submit accommodations requests before the deadlines. To receive accommodations for the May exam, all applications and documentation must be submitted to College Board no later than March 16, 2012. Because the review process is thorough, it takes about seven weeks to review a request when documentation is required. In order to get all of the paperwork and possible additional testing complete in time you must act now!!

SSD Online, the College Board’s online system for submitting and managing accommodation requests for students with disabilities, is the fastest and most accurate way to request accommodations for your students.

Access to SSD Online will be through a secure login for which you will need a College Board Educational Professional account. If you don't already have an account with the College Board, create one by going to http://www.collegeboard.com/profaccount and following the instructions for "Create an Account." Fill out an SSD Coordinator Form and fax it to the College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities at 866-360-0114. As soon as the form is processed (usually within 1-2 business days), you will be sent an access code, via email, that will allow you to access the application. When you receive the access code, go to the Education Professionals' Sign-In page and enter your College Board account username and password. For the "Sign In to" field select "Disabilities Accommodation Mgmt" from the drop-down menu. After you sign in, you are prompted to enter the access code you were provided with, which gives you access to the SSD Online application.
